Mesa/Boogie Mark V 1x12 Combo - Available With Vintage 30 Speaker!

The Mesa/Boogie Mark V 1x12 Combo usually ships standard with a Celestion C90 speaker, also known as the Mesa/Boogie Black Shadow. The C90 is an excellent speaker and is able to handle the full power of this amplifier without any trouble, however for variety and the freedom of choice, we order our Mark V Combos with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers in addition to the standard C90.

We have found each speaker will appeal to different players depending on the tone they're after and the style of music they play. The video will show in an A/B comparison what the differences are between these two speakers, so you can listen and judge for yourself which will be the best fit in your Mark V Combo.

There has been some concern with the power handling of the Vintage 30, as it is 60 watts instead of 90. We have sold a LOT of Mark V combos with Vintage 30's in them, and have not had one issue come up with the speakers. It's noteworthy that Mesa/Boogie installs and warranties the Vintage 30 speaker, so they are confident in its ability handle the power.

Common sense is warranted however. If you have to have the amp set at 90 watts and turned completely up all the time, you should probably stick with the C90, but most of us would agree there's no need for that level of volume in a 1x12 combo and that you are at a tonal disadvantage when running a high gain amp at that level.

We have both amps available in our online store and they are the same price and come with the same warranty:
