What instruments do you teach?
Violin (All Levels) and Viola (Beginner)
What styles of music do you enjoy teaching and playing?
Western classical music, indian classical music, jazz and bluegrass.
How long have you taught music?
10 years.
What are your qualifications and experience?
I just returned from a summer of teaching violin and the Himalayan Mountains. I've been playing violin since age 4. I began my training with the Black Hills Suzuki School. Over the years I've performed with the Black Hills Symphony, the Black Hills Chamber Orchestra, the Central High School Chamber Orchestra and rock/bluegrass groups around the country. I studied violin at Peabody Conservatory from 2005-2007. Future plans include returning to India to study Hindustani Classical music.
What do you enjoy the most about giving lessons?
I love the 'ah ha' moment, when a student's eyes light up with the realization of the endless possibilities they can create on their instrument. It's the point where a piece becomes more than notes on a page; when the work of a great master is reborn with their unique and diverse interpretations. From simple Twinkle-Twinkle Lisste Star to the Bruch Violin Concerto, I focus on strengthening technique with Western Classical reqertoire while nuturing the musicality inherent in each student at every level.
