What are your qualifications and experience?

I have played the violin for 20 years and the viola for 13 years.  I grew up in Rapid City, playing viola with the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra, Black Hills Chamber Orchestra, Black Hills Suzuki School, Stevens High School Orchestra, and various chamber ensembles.  I was a member of the All State Orchestra all through high school and principal violist in 2005.  In college at Brown University, which I graduated from this May, I continued to play viola with the chamber music program and fiddle with the Old Time String Band.

What do you enjoy the most about giving lessons?

I love when a student falls in love with music in the small epiphany moments; like reading through an anticipated new piece, mastering a new technique, or finally figuring out that difficult passage they've been struggling with.  Then the music and the practice has truly become his/her own.
