Although I have taken violin lessons/voice lessons for 13 years, I am beginning as a teacher now
What are your qualifications and experience?
I have taken lessons (both violin and voice) privately, both in my Rapid City childhood, and at the University of Wyoming with Dr. Naomi Gjevre (violin) and Dr. Larry Hensel (voice), for a total of 13 years. Violin experience includes: Playing with the University of Wyoming(UW)’s Symphony Orchestra (1st violin section), Chamber Orchestra (2nd violin sec), Nutcracker (2nd violin sec), and the violinist for UW’s touring musical theater group Centennial Singers (states toured including WY, CA, SD, MT, AZ, NE). I have previously played as the local blue grass band Jolly Llamas’ fiddler, and I currently play with local classic rock 79 Band as violinist/singer and Crossroads band as violinist/singer. Vocal experience includes: winner of the 2009 Colorado State Idol Singing competition, finalist of the University of Wyoming’s Idol Competition 2007, 2 years as a singer/actress/dancer for University of Wyoming’s touring musical theater group Centennial Singers, 5 years as a member of the University of Wyoming’s Collegiate Chorale and Opera Theater groups (including local Wyoming tours and international European tour). I was the recipient of vocal and violin tuition scholarships at the University of Wyoming.
What do you enjoy the most about giving lessons?
Although I am beginning as a violin and violin/voice teacher, my previous experience with children working as a Storybook Island Theater camp director for 3 years has given me lots of experience with teaching/working with children, and I am really excited to utilize my long history of musical experience/training to begin my journey as a teacher at Haggerty’s.
