The Taylor Special Edition 326e Baritone Grand Symphony represents the gold standard in production-model baritone guitars. A treat for your ears, your fret hand, and your eyes, the 326e epitomizes the USA -made quality we've come to expect from a premium name like Taylor.

The quality of luthier work on the 326E Grand Symphony cannot be overstated. The guitar feels luxurious without being pretentious or giving off the vibe that it's somehow more of a museum piece than a musical instrument.

All of the 326E Grand Symphony's appointments back up this "luxury you can play" vibe. The satin finish is beautiful and without blemish. The ebony fretboard is flawless; even under close inspection, you won't find an unfinished fret or a drop of glue out of place.

The guitar is also remarkably ergonomic for a baritone. Its body is thinner than most baritone acoustics at about 4.5 inches. This has a noticeable impact upon comfort, as some thicker guitars can leave you feeling like you have your arms wrapped around a 20-inch television from 1992. With the exception of its higher gauge strings, the 326E Grand Symphony offers a level of comfort that one would expect from a standard acoustic.

Body Shape

Compared to the Taylor Grand Auditorium, the Grand Symphony has a bigger, rounder lower bout and slightly wider "waist" area, and the bigger sound board (top) means more tonal output. Expect a meaty lower midrange and strong treble shimmer. A GS is best if you want a guitar with a robust low end, strong volume when strumming or flatpicking, and clear articulation in response to light fingerpicking attack.

Tone Wood Pairing

A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Mahogany is a hardwood that produces a natural compression, yielding more "roll-in" effect to a note. The compression evens out a lively attack for a more linear response. Mahogany tops deliver strong fundamentals with clear and direct focus. On an extended-range 8-string guitar, that extra sparkle accentuates those octave courses and gives you especially thick shimmer while keeping the low notes nicely focused.

Electronics

Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly whether playing acoustically or plugged-in. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before while playing plugged-in.
