The Reenvisioned Taylor 700 Series
May 26, 2022

Over the years, Taylor's Hawaiian Koa acoustics have charmed even the most traditional of our pickers. They've now dedicated an entire series to the beloved tonewood, as the new 700 Series featuring a 724ce and 722ce. These guitars come out today and are crafted to offer a new Koa experience in look, feel, and sound.

Here's what makes them different.

The 724ce has the versatile Grand Auditorium shape with a warm midrange and crisp, splashy trebles. The 722ce is a Grand Concert, producing clear, vibrant response and midrange punch. Both acoustics are powered by a new V-class voicing recipe, new to the Taylor lineup! The Koa tonewood resonates more vividly than ever before. These have an extremely thin, open-pore satin finish that lets the warm wood really sing out. They're finished with tasteful appointments including a new Fountain inlay and Polished Bronze Taylor Tuners. We have both models in stock and eager to be played.

Koa is incredibly rare.

You'll only find it on the Big Island of Hawaii, only about 3,000 ft elevation, and only on private land. This makes it difficult for most manufacturers to access. Taylor works directly with local landowners to sustainably harvest this exotic tonewood and replant it for future generations. In addition to the 700 Series, Taylor makes a Koa Baby Taylor, Koa GS Mini, Koa GS Mini, 214ce-K224ce-K DLX, and Koa Customs.

We couldn't wait to try them out.

Marcus and Johnny put both new models to work so we could hear the difference. Give it a listen and tell us what you think!
